Carlos Santana and Herbie
Hancock record Mama Sissoko's "Safiatou"
Tinder records is happy to announce that Carlos
SANTANA and Herbie HANCOCK carried out together the adaptation
of the song "Safiatou" of Mama SISSOKO.
In
stores since September 2005, Herbie Hancock's album "Possibilities",
met a large success.
The history began 2 years ago. In San Rafael California, Carlos
Santana came to meet the Label Tinder Records to congratulate
the team for their work on promoting African music on American
ground.
Santana
is immediately attracted by the work of the Malian artist Mama
Sissoko "Soleil de Minuit" who is promoted by Tinder
Records in the United States. Carlos Santana wanted to meet him
as the melody of "Safiatou" inspired him.
Safiatou
is the name of a pretty girl from his village who ignited the
heart of Mama Sissoko and has conquered Carlos.
Sandrine
Di Rienzo, the president of the label, organized a meeting. Bamako
Mama came to meet Carlos in Paris after a concert at Bercy. The
artists met finally. The two guitarists exchanged their cultures
and their music. Safiatou came to meet Carlo also. There were
no words to describe how Carlos felt when meeting her.
Two
years later, Carlos Santana and Herbie Hancock recorded the song
"Safiatou" of Mama Sissoko on Hancock's album "Possibilities".
With
the electric Latino accent, the song has a new feel and reaches
an entirely new audience.
A source of inspiration for a musical interbreeding in perpetual
research, the African music promoted by Tinder Records does not
cease to inspire the artists of the whole world. -Posted
